What actually happens in a first therapy session
A plain walkthrough of the first hour — what is asked, what is not, and how much you decide.
The first session is mostly conversation. There is no form to fill, no test to sit, and nothing you must disclose before you are ready. Expect questions about what brought you here, how long it has been going on, and what you have already tried.
You decide how much to share. A good first hour also covers practicalities: session length, fees, confidentiality and its legal limits, cancellation rules, and how we will know whether the work is helping.
By the end you should have a sense of whether this feels like the right fit — and you are free to decide that for yourself. Therapy works best as a collaboration, not something done to you.
